As reported by Tre’vell Anderson of the Los Angeles Times, iconic filmmaker George A. Romero has passed away at the age of 77. According to his family, Romero passed away in his sleep after a short battle with lung cancer.
Romero is best known for changing the way people looked at zombies with 1968’s Night of the Living Dead. He also directed the likes of Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and Land of the Dead, as well as The Crazies, Martin, and Creepshow.
Well known for being one of the most approachable and kind-hearted filmmakers of his generation, Romero will certainly never be forgotten due to his endless contributions to both the horror genre and cinema in general.
Rest in power, Mr. Romero. Thank you for everything.
